awkward and awesome thursday.

So, I follow Syndey at The Daybook (I know you've all heard of her because we all stuck in a blogger clique) and she does Awkward and Awesome Thursday. I absolutely love it! So today, I have made my own and am going to "link up" (yes, my first time) with my own list of awkward and awesome events. Oh, and I just couldn't wait til thursday to post.. bahah!

Awkward:

- coming home to this:

 [my clothes (and even my delicate unmentionables) out on the line to dry for all to see!]

- when Ticos (thats a Costa Rican) ask me for directions and I give them answers like i think its down the street and you take a left, wait no, a right.. and maybe in some sketch ally or something? IDK dog, i’m just a gringo from the US!

- when you are waiting for the bus but another bus arrives ahead of yours and everyone rushes to the first bus to form a line that by the time yours arrives you have to shove through to find out you are the only person getting on the second bus. It's like getting picked last in kickball. No Fun.

- the fact that here in Heredia, Burger King and Papa Johns share a building like the many KFC/Taco Bells we have in NC. I guess it works when you want hamburger pizza!

- realizing one of the things you miss about your best friend is that she takes her contacts out before she goes to bed and leaves them on whatever surface is closest to her. I have found shriveled up contacts in many places, luckily none in my underwear drawer!

- the fact that I am dying to get my period SO BAD! gosh, i just want to have the relief of having it. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?! I may be the only person on planet earth praying for my period to come.

- the fact that there isn't a word in spanish that correctly depicts how many ways I use the world "awkward".. man, its just awkward when I try to explain it in spanish!

- I can't escape Walmart, we have a Walmart in Barva AND there are stores around Heredia called "Mas Por Menos" (yes, more for less) that are OWNED by Walmart. Geez, Walmart needs to chill.

Awesome:

- the new skype has 3 way vidoe chat, its great to see my mom and brother at the same time! it's like a 2 for one special.

- when the cutest 2 year little girl plays peek a boo, blows kisses and waves at you the whole bus ride home. Man, these tico babies are A-DOR-A-BLE!

- the views I have from every location I have been in Costa Rica. I literally have NEVER been in a spot where I couldn't see some beautiful landscape!

- the fact that you can get a icecream cone at burger king (slash papa johns of course) for 60 cents. I'm going to get so fat here!


- the girls in my study abroad group that meet for bible study on Wed. They are just so loving and encouraging. isn't fellowship just lovely?

- this hostal i’m staying at in Puerto Viejo this weekend. i’m going to rent a hammock to sleep in for 5 dollars, rent bikes to ride along the coast, and SNORKEL! yes, be jealous
