I know it's been FOR-EV-ER but I've had intentions to write for a while but I either had homework or never finished the post! It's the thought that counts anyway, right? Well, anyways.. this past week I had my first spring break! (yes, in my program we get a spring break and the country has a national week called "semana santa" therefore, I get two, oh yeah!) Anyways, we went to Granada and San Juan del Sur in Nicaragua and Liberia, Costa Rica! So, I know I've talked about the curvy roads of Costa Rica before.. but here we go again. So the drive was supposed to be about 8 hours including stopping at the border TWICE to get out of Costa Rica and into Nicaragua but I personally didn't think it was that bad. The border was not as eventful as I wanted because I wanted to have to get out and swim or something but whatever.. I guess doing it the legal way is cool too..
Anyways, first off we went to Granada which is like the second biggest tourist spot and it was empty! Apparently Nicaragua is just catching on to this whole tourist thing so everything was really cheap and readily available. I have never in my life been asked so many times if I wanted some sunglasses but whatever, I understand! So we stayed in Granada two nights and here's what we did:
drank coke from a bottle |
saw beautiful architecture |
NICA FLAG! |
saw beautiful churches (one of the many!) |
had a small photoshoot! |
went on a horse drawn carriage! |
touring the city of granada! |
and sat on the front of a train! |
hahah, yeah.. thats not exactly what we did.. we alsooooooo:

boat toured around the isletas (yeah theres 365 little islands from a volcanic explosion a WHILE back) |
saw these ridic houses |
oh and MONKIES! |

hiked to the top of this baby! |
to see this VOLCANO! (by the way, i could hardly breathe!) |

thats left over lava rocks from the last eruption! |
boatingggg... |
That was just Granada... then we went to San Juan del Sur annnnnd:
hung out on the beach! |
enjoyed the boats |
acted crazy! |
took a sunset boat tourrr! |
SAW DOLPHINS! |
look at him go! |
enjoyed the lovely sunset... |
After San Juan del Sur, we crossed back into Costa Rica and stayed in Liberia at this super secluded resort type thing. They were horses, a water slide, mud bath and hot springs. I don't have pictures of any of this fun events because it was a little unsafe to have my camera around. This place was by far my favorite. Me and my friend Erin hung out with some of the workers learning spanish and on the last night we had a big dancing party where we learned to dance! Its funny that you assume all latin american people can dance, but that is NOT TRUE! Nonetheless he all enjoyed ourselves and here are some of sunsets and landscapes we saw:
cute. |
it was ridiculous beautiful! |
oh yeah. |
i felt so tiny, and YES thats the OCEAN! |
almost gone! |
clouuuds |
look at those rays! |
magnificent! |
bright! |
love. |
going down. |
goodbye! |
Man, I just love sunsets and nothing was better than seeing them from here! There is just something about the moment that they disappear that makes me feel so tiny! MAN, our God is great! Anyways, I enjoyed myself to the max on this trip and didn't want to leave! Man, well guess its back to my "real world" in Costa Rica! School it is..
BUT I GET TO SEE MY BFF MARYBETH ON FRIDAY CAUSE SHE IS HERE WITH HER CHURCH! WOOOOO HOOOO!
p.s. maybe i'll finish my other unfinished posts soon, thanks for baring with me :)
