¡fiestas!

So, my Costa Rican family is really tight. I mean really tight. They seriously hang out with each other all the time. It's super sweet because like on random nights (usually friday or saturday) they will all end up at one house watching soccer and eating something (my kinda family). Oh, I almost forgot, this family is HUGE I seriously meet someone new everyday. It blows my mind sometimes. But anyways, so the first weekend I was here they had a baby shower. Thats when I met the majority of these people. If you recall me posting these pictures:

Well, she had her baby and named her Lucia. Look how precious:

Gosh, I love babies. Well on sunday we had another baby shower.. It was super fun. I tried this weird looking thing called "tamales". They look like this:

interesting but delish.

Interesting right? I mean it was good. Especially with Lizano sauce but I can't see myself eating them often. The shell (which you don't eat) is a leaf of some tree and the inside is ... idk some weird stuff with carrots, rice and meat. After, of course we drank a "cafecito" and ate some delicious "pancito".. also, here are some other photos from the shower:

Moving back to why I am posting about this. What I love best about these little parties/get togethers is that they are super spontaneous. After eating dinner with some family friends on the day of baby showering the mom of this cute thing:

invited everyone over to celebrate Valentines day. We sat and talked (I mostly listened) to their funny stories and experiences while everyone chatted and enjoyed each others company. Everyone is so loving and so chill that is hard to have a bad time. It was nothing like what we would do for Valentines Day (like eat heart shaped cupcakes) but I had a good time. As I sat and listened to the little kids screaming and playing and the adults talking over one another, I realized how precious family is and MAN, do I miss my family!  On the nights there are get togethers, my mom will knock on my door and as me me to come and of course I do! (except for last night when I had to finish homework) but yeah.

We also had a picnic or what they like to call "PICKY NICKY" haha. I just love hanging out with these people. Here they are in action:
meat on the grill!

not traditional pic nic food but it was delish!

karoake

sliding down a hill

two little ones feeding each other coffee, oh yeah!

hahaha, tradition

host mom and bro dancing:)

Alright, for real, thats all I wanted to say.
Heres to more Costa Rican get togethers!
