Awkward and Awesome Thursday

A couple years ago I started a blog (Cultura Nueva) because I was going on a exciting adventure to live and study in Costa Rica. I kept it (kind of) updated but when I got back I decided to change the name to "everyday I'm hustling" because.... well, everyday I am hustling but didn't do a super awesome job of keeping it up.

Today, over two years later, I thought about that blog and decided to come find it and saw my old "Awkward and Awesome" Thursday posts and decided to post about my Awkward and Awesome experiences. And goodness knows I have plenty because I teach middle school every day.

Awkward
- Fundraising. Whether it be Relay for life, missions or to support schools it's awkward. Asking people for their money is just plain awkward even though people are so generous it's insane!

- The Thursday before spring break when you gave a test on Wednesday because everyone is most likely going to be out of town on Friday and you don't want to have to make it up. Lesson plan: go over test, answer any questions, give long drawn out responses to fill time.

- When you catch 6th graders (who should be innocent) listening to rap songs called "Trap Queen" Please tell me they have no idea what that song is about.

- Watching middle school romance happen in the hallways. So many side hugs with zero eye contact!

- "Professional discussions" in meetings about disagreements. She mentioned something about lollipops and that's all I could think about for last 30 minutes. WHERE ARE THOSE LOLLIPOPS?

Awesome
- I ate chocolate! (Don't tell me Zach, my trainer!)

- It's my roommate's birthday! Karly is the coolest, baddest, most sweet friend I have and I'm so excited to celebrate her!

- I'm going on a missions trip to Peru in June! Last November I kept thinking about Peru a lot. I googled it a lot and read a lot about it. I even bought a travelers guidebook for no reason at all. Fast forward two months, I got an email update from a missions organization that I had supported my friend to go on and that organization was going to Peru so I prayed about it and filled out the application and was accepted! Now I'm fundraising (awkward, ha!) but I'm thrilled to get to be a part of this! View my gofundme page here!

- Tomorrow is the last day before Spring break. One complete week with no responsibility for 130+ children. YES!

- The wild Thornberrys movie is on Netflix! Totally watched it last night. No judgy. Might watch it again.

Maybe I'll get back into this whole blogging thing. Although, I'll definitely have to revamp the design. It's fun for me to type what I'm thinking. I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts!

Peace out, friends.
